My Paint Booth Ardcore frame

I have a clothes line I hang all my paint jobs on, Works well as long as there is no wind.I used gloss black rust paint because it is cheap looks good dries fast and is fairly resistant to chipping.

Its cheap and you can touch up your paint anytime you want,I cant tell you how many bike frames I have painted with gloss black rattle cans but I have no complaints about it. Powder coating is for those of you who have $ and don’t relize that most bikes built to this day have gloss black enamel painted frames.

Ok I am also fitting the fender to the back tire, buy running some motorcycle chain under it and taping the fender to the tire to keep it secure. The other thing I did is put a 1/2″ self locking nut (about 3/8″ )on either of the four corners of the fender to keep my spacing centered. So no rubbing of the tire with such a tight fitting fender.

The fender needed some tweeking when it was fitted because of the welding and the movement of the support bars when the welds cooled

Ok finished my deck you can see it in some of these pictures, but that is not the subject of these pictures so…. The paint is Aztec gold it is a tree part paint, starting with base brilliant metallic, Aztec gold Candy concentrate that you can mix with the mid coat clear to get the color you want and the depth you want and then the final clear coat .

The paint was applied with a HVLP paint gun at 40 psi even tho they recommend 10 psi but that only got me sputters at that pressure…duh.

Another thing I would like to mention there are 2 base coats, 2 mid coats with a 10 drops of aztec gold. and 2 goats of clear with 5 drops of aztec gold in the clear and 1/2 cap of flow enhancer and 1/2 cap of hardner. this will dry overnight.

I will then wet sand lightly with 1000 grit and then shoot another 2 coats of clear with aztec gold tinted in the first and the final just clear coat.
